Red-bellied Woodpecker, new visitor to the feeder.

A nice looking woodpecker - first one I've seen around here in Niagara.  Most welcome to become a regular visitor to the feeder.

The 'Artful' Female Mallard Duck

Shooting duck pictures at Happy Rolph's (as all other creatures were absent this day).
Tried for a more artful approach capturing the movement of rings in the water.
What do you think?

Shells on the beach

Waverly Beach in Fort Erie has large masses of these little shells washed up on the sands of the beach.  A lot of geometric designs and colours.  It was a 'crunchy' walk.

White-tailed deer, aptly named.

October 04, 2014
Out for a ride near Apsley.  The deer were plentiful and not too skiddish allowing me to grab a bunch of pictures.

Pileated Woodpecker

While camping at #Charleston Lake Provincial Park we stopped in a small bay to listen for wildlife when this pileated woodpecker flew in and landed about 10' from the shore on this rotting birch.  We were able to watch it for about a half hour. The bugs must have been plentiful.  Will post a video on my youtube channel.  He/she was very focused on the task at hand!

Hitching a ride

While out canoeing this past Sunday, a dragonfly lands on Liz's arm and stayed for awhile.  She could see those little pincers working away - like it was trying to pick something off her skin.

Not sure what

Assuming this is a butterfly. (moth?)  It was inside our screen room and we couldn't find it in any of our guides.  If anyone knows, could you please let me know what it's called.

Blue Jay catching some rays.

May 30, 2014
Landed on the garage roof and immediately fanned out every feather on his body and stayed there for 5 minutes just soaking up the sunshine.  I'm sure it feels much like when I am laying on the beach soaking up the rays without a care in the world, mighty fine!
